Learning Letters – Craft
I have been trying to come up with different ways to help DD’s learn their letters. We have posters in the playroom, and we point out letters on different things etc. All the normal things. However knowing they like craft so much I wondered if I could blend the two for new ways to help them learn.
I went to a few different websites and got letter print outs, and we are working with blocks of 3 letters at a time, and using 2 different forms of craft.
Firstly I went to this website… http://www.dltk-teach.com/alphabuddies/mabcposter.html
And printed the set of 3 letters that we are working on. I picked portrait orientation and black & white printing. With these we simply had one each to colour in with pencil. We then cut them down to just the outer border and laminated them. They are being blu-taced to the wall to eventually form a large wall of letters.
Next I went to this website… http://www.preschoolcoloringbook.com/color/cpletter.shtml
And printed the set of 3 letters we are working on. We are using the plain letters for our craft, but there are many different options on the page.
We then use a pasting theme to decorate the print outs. The first block we used ‘jewels’ & stickers on the letters. The group of 3 we have just done we used ripped up bits of magazine to glue with in the lines of the letters.
These will all go into a display folder to be used as a flip through alphabet book.
