Girls Tops

Girls Tops….looks like I might learn patterns after all!
I have finally completed one of the two tops I need to make for DD’s to wear to their brothers 18th party. I now have less than 3 weeks to complete the other…eek. I know that seems like a long time, however I get limited ‘alone’ time to sew, so you can kinda scale that 3 weeks back to about 2 days…lol.

Lessons learned from this experience are :

  1. I have a problem picking easy to work with fabric! The fabric I chose for this project was not the type recommended, and that presented some issues…but I was able to work through them.
  2. You really really need to check the setting on your iron before attempting to iron sequined fabric!! :-/
  3. It is best to get a cup of tea and the instructions for the pattern, sit down and have a GOOD read before starting anything. Some small mistakes could have been avoided if I didn’t speed ahead and not follow the pattern correctly. (however, still impressed as this is only the second time I have followed a store-bought proper pattern)
  4. Stop giving myself projects to do, but not leaving myself time to do them…lol.

And for the finished product…Simplicity Pattern 2431 from the Daisy Kingdom range

So now I really should get on to the second one!! Overall I am very impressed with this pattern, very easy to follow. I am sure it would be even easier to do if it was being done with the recommended fabrics 🙂 I might just have to try it again down the track.
