2 tails in 3 hours!
Totally amazed myself today by managing to do both mermaid tails within 3 hours. I started at 11am, and by started I mean from cutting out stage (had pattern drafted from previous project), and then I was packed up by 2pm.
This is fantastic as now I only have the 2 aprons to make, which again I have done before so already have a pattern. The tails were the more difficult task, so I could have the aprons done in half the time if I don’t stuff them up..lol.
I found the fabric wasn’t quite as good as the one I used for the last tail I made, it was somewhat thinner, and more fragile. It had a stretch, but if you stretched it too far it seemed to come apart. However the upside to this fabric was the effect it created when I stitched through the ‘fin’ section, it kind of gathered it as I was sewing, which has given a really nice look to the fins.
I have photos of the tails, hard to get the idea until they are actually on the girls, so will take another picture after Xmas too 🙂
There is only one tail in the pictures as they are both identical, couldn’t see the point in taking a photo of each.
